Restart is South Tyneside Council’s specialist domestic abuse service, providing vital support for victims, families, and perpetrators. As part of a major transformation, the service was expanding to include an Integrated Domestic Abuse Hub – a centralised, accessible resource for those in need.
To support this evolution, Wriggle was tasked with rebranding Restart and creating a campaign that would improve awareness, build trust, and increase referrals to the service.
Project Goals
- Develop a strong, recognisable brand identity that instils trust and reassurance.
- Create an inclusive visual identity that aligns with national domestic abuse services while fitting within South Tyneside Council’s overarching brand.
- Design and deliver a range of marketing assets for digital and print use.
- Ensure all creative materials are trauma-informed, avoiding distressing imagery while promoting a sense of safety and support.
The Wriggle Approach
Our process started with in-depth research and strategy development, drawing insights from leading domestic abuse support organisations such as Women’s Aid and IDAS. We focused on designing a brand that was both accessible and empowering.
Key elements of our approach included:
- Brand Development: A refined Restart logo, colour palette, and typography designed to be clear, modern, and approachable. The national domestic abuse colour of purple was integrated, complemented by soft, hopeful tones.
- Marketing Assets: We created templates for social media, digital screens, print materials (posters, leaflets, banners), and public health e-newsletters, ensuring a consistent visual identity across all platforms.
- Messaging Strategy: Working closely with South Tyneside Council, we developed key messaging that resonated with various audiences – from victims seeking support to third-sector organisations making referrals.
